I am so glad I found you! This was the most positive, productive 2 hrs I've spent in ages. Hoa Kutcher was great. She was patient, professional, and glad to share her knowledge of watercolor with me. I have gained so much confidence but mainly willingness to paint! Thanks so much for offering this class

An ode to the Lake Street KMart. In 1985 I was mugged outside my apartment on Nicollet they got maybe $10 or so but I was mad. The next day I was crossing the KMart parking lot, I looked down and found a rolled up wad of about $400. None of this really has anything to do with this painting per se, but I?m sorta sad it got torn down this year?. Head on over to the blue light special!

I'm on a birch tree kick... they mean renewal, purification, rebirth, and new beginnings. Their roots are deep, did you know you can wash their bark and make them white again.. I love painting birch trees for this reason. Reminds me of our lives in a spiritual sense.

The owner told me that she wanted something fun, relaxing, and beautiful to adorn her shed. She pointed out the she especially hated the electric meter. About 1/2 way across painting on the shed, she came out with ice tea and asked if I could also include the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, I made the building end (made a corner) and then added some blue ridge mountains off in the background. Finished product has feelings of Greece with Blue Ridge mountains, making it a true fantasy piece!

I saw a similar piece somewhere and decided to try this style as opposed to charcoal portraiture. Oils on canvas. A very different path to choose. But I'm loving it so far.

I painted this recently from a photo I took during a Friends Weekend several years ago. We stopped our bicycles on the bridge and snapped a few photos. The icy cold water was a brilliant blue from the mineral content. The Pine River flows into Vallecito Lake near Bayfield and Durango.
