I like the teaching of the gestural drawing. I felt like he could have been more prepared, where he could have found 3-4 statues to work with. He didn't know where the statutes were and we did two. For a free event, no problem. For $47.00, I would expect more polished planning. Although, I did enjoy learning about him and his art, I think more time could have been spent building community between the participants.

I thought it was really fun! Nice size group of 5. Time for questions, too. I would have liked to have just a little bit more time to get a critique of my drawing. Not a big deal. Next time I will just ask. I loved Joel.

I did like the venue, it was different and took me out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed meeting participants. I loved meeting Joel he was so much fun ! I took away a few great tips about practice shading and observe. And learning the beginning stages of drawing the Lilly and realizing they are just shapes I guess. However, I really do wish we had done more actual drawing.

To Whatever End explores the tension between victory and devastation. Do we win in suffering or does suffering ultimately overcome us? A fragile dance between human nature, or in this case, armor and fruit. This piece was inspired by the Red Rising book series by Pierce Brown.

I create abstract stained-glass art by combining standard sheet glass that I purchase at the glass store with interesting glass objects that I buy at flea markets, garage sales, or Goodwill, When hunting for glass, I look for interesting colors, textures and patterns as I know they will play with the light in ways that celebrate the nature of glass. I'm less interested in imagery and more interested in playing with light as it passes through the fascinating material of glass.

It made me stop and think about what was going on. I think it?s hard to make people really connect with a portrait, but this image did that to me right away, so I wanted to paint it.This is also my first oil portrait. Yes! I am a survior!! I have used the "Never Give Up" attitude to help my mental health post breast cancer treatment. To stay positive, I created a charcoal sketch that shows my journey. The waves represent the challenges I faced and the swimmer?s eye shows my confidence and my will to keep moving forward.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
